LAAX OPEN has been safely launched in tracks! The world 's best snowboarders have already completed their qualification runs. Scotty James (AUS) took first place in the men's halfpipe qualification, as well as American Chloe Kim in the women’s competition! In the slopestyle contest Sven Thorgren (SWE) was able to secure the top position to qualify for the semi-finals coming up next. The finals on Friday (Slopestyle) and on Saturday (Halfpipe) are getting closer!

Another beautiful day here in LAAX for today’s Halfpipe Semi-Finals in the legendary LAAX Superpipe. 24 men and 12 women were battling for a spot in Saturday’s big finals. Olympic Gold Medalist Iouri Podladtchikov (SUI) won the Semi-Finals in his “home-pipe”, while Chloe Kim (USA) landed the best run in the women’s field.
All riders had two runs, with the best one counting. In the Men’s competition riders from Switzerland, the United States and China were clearly dominating the field today....

The perfectly shaped LAAX Superpipe on Crap Sogn Gion was the center of attention, when 12 men and 6 women were trying to grab the Halfpipe crown. In breath-taking finals Chloe Kim (USA) and Chase Josey (USA) walked away as proud LAAX OPEN 2017 Halfpipe Champions.

The LAAX OPEN 2019 culminated today with the long-awaited highlight, the first ever Superpipe Night Finals up on Crap Sogn Gion. Olympic Gold medalist and top favorite Chloe Kim fulfilled all expectations after winning this morning’s semi-finals and also dominating tonight’s finals. She clearly took over the lead after the first run which earned her 93,75 points which no other finalist was able to beat! Snowflakes were falling when riders were getting ready to drop into the Halfpipe underneath GALAAXY. In the women’s field the only European rider in the finals, Queralt Castellet from Spain, was clearly in the lead after the first run. She started off with a huge Lien Air, a Backside 900 Mute, followed by a Frontside 900 Melon, Air to Fakie, finishing off with a Switch Backside 540 Mute. Scotty James really threw down on his Australia Day celebration in the first night of X Games Aspen 2017. As temperatures plummeted into the single digits, this Aussie pipe phenom dropped in for the very first run of the night and lit the pipe on fire with massive airs and untapped style. He set the bar very high, earning a 90 from the judges, and never looked back, clenching his first X Games gold.
