adidas ROCKSTARS 2017 - Best Of
Well-deserved winners at the adidas ROCKSTARS 2017 in the Superfinals: Alex Puccio (USA) in the women’s and Tomoa Narasaki (JPN) at the men’s category showed an amazing performance on the critical boulder, which meant the official “adidas ROCKSTARS 2017” champion title for both. The Japanese has already solved the „problem“ after 18 seconds and showed his huge relief when he smashed the buzzer. Truly, his goal to keep the title was a hard challenge against his South Korean opponent Jongwon Chon. The crowd pushed both forward and saw within the first few steps today it’s Tomoa’s day again.
The US girl Alex Puccio was the lucky winner in the women’s competition against last year’s champion Janja Garnbret from Slovenia. After dominating the rounds before, Puccio was quite stunned when she stood up there. For her it was a special win taking into account the fact that she had a long break due to a longer injury and recovery.
82 athletes who started, the field was narrowed over 2 rounds to just 6 male and 6 female finalists. The crowd in the Porsche-Arena saw an outstanding final, which could only be surpassed by an even more exciting “Superfinal”. The competing men and women were responsible for the ultimate highlights on this day.
This boulder event had some other great program highlights too: The amateurs competed in the “Be a Rockstar” competition, the band Orange but Green, Robeat and some DJs got the atmosphere to its top, having the crowd on fire when the athletes needed the support for their challenges.
