For nearly the last decade, the Ötztal valley has hosted some of the most progressive film riding in Europe at the end of each season on various special obstacles. Eastern Germany's finest freeskier, Roy Kittler discovers a sick line through the castle's features filmed 100% with GoPro at the Suzuki Nine Knights presented by GoPro in Livigno. He stomps a huge cork 360 off the transfer kicker, which sits in the middle of the half pipe, landing onto the pipe extention wall. He finishes his run off with another cork 360 from the GoPro quarter pipe at the bottom of the course.

A perfect bluebird day in the Dolomites, a bunch of motivated riders and you get edits like this. As the end of the season slowly ticking down with the hands of the clock, it was decided that it was time for a spring session on the kickers at the Vans Penken Park Mayrhofen on the 8th of March. For the 23rd edition of the Champs Open a totally new direction has been taken with two distinctly new competitions. The first was dedicated Snowboard and Freeski film producers. Four teams were invited for 10 days to Leysin with riders & cameraman/editors with the ultimate goal of producing a 3-minute film of their adventures throughout the Vaud Alps. In a break from a traditional contest format, Europe’s longest running event, the Leysin Champs Open Winter Freestyle Festival 2014 celebrates the roots of Snowboarding and Freeskiing by launching a new, fresh event format. Calling the resort of Leysin home base, and utilising the awe inspiring backdrop of the Vaud region of Switzerland as it’s canvas, this years edition will be split into a film & editing component culminating in a freestyle show and three day music festival at the Place to Be.

Saturday the 8th of March saw the QParks Freeski Tour circus arrive at the Blue Tomato Kings Park Hochkönig for the 6th stop of the international freeski show.
