The O’Neill Cold Water Classic Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) 6-star made a change in venue halfway through the day today. A move from the primary venue of Pines at Wainui Beach to Pipe at Midway Beach in the township of Gisborne saw extremely improved conditions that had the international contingent of surfers foaming at the mouth to hit the water for their heats.
After two and half days of strong onshore winds, Pipe offered up solid 1.5m plus waves and little-to-no wind with cra...

Sam takes us on a Castle Tour. He asks the guide which questions are the most important questions to ask the surfers and the crew. How old is the castle, what the story of the ghost is.
It’s definitely the story of the ghost: a very beautiful Lady who threw herself to her death rather than to submit to the evil Earl in 1426. He then goes along and asks the surfers and the crew about what they know about the ghost in the castle… of course everyone of them has a different version.

Jarrad welcomes us to the final day of the competition. In true O’Neill Cold Water Classic Series style, they are blessed with offshore winds and pumping waves at Thurso East. In an all goofy semi it is Royden Bryson (ZAF) who defeats Shaun Cansdell AUS) to be the 1st in the final. The 2nd semi finale is an all Brasilian affair with Yuri Sodre versus Raoni Monteiro. Yuri Sodre dominates the heat and moves through to the final.

Sam Lamiroy, the best British surfer and at that the funniest as well, lets us partake in his journey to Thurso, Scotland. He wakes up at 5:30 am and starts from Cornwall, the supposedly warmest part of the country…He shows us the Tower Bridge and wants to make us believe it’s Birmingham instead of London. He gets bored from all the driving and catches a little break by snowboarding in Scotland! Sam’s journey to Thurso took 1008 miles, 2 days, a stop in London and a little play in the snow.

Sam Lamiroy does the webcast for the CWC Tasmania this week. Sam shows us the technical side, the behind the scene of this event. What goes on when an event like this is put on. He leads us into “the dark side” of professional surfing. The highlight of this day is without a doubt John John Florence’s perfect 10 score. Sam interviews the ASP Worldtour headjudge and the commentator if this score is justified. He even asks John John himself what score he would give himself.

Jarrad Howse tells us about the highlights of Day2. They finish Round 1 and go through Heat 6 of Round 96. Conditions had eased slightly from yesterday allowing the competition to use its mobile format and head to the more exposed beach of Lighthouse. The surfers battle through 3meter swell with strong winds. 17-year-old John John Florence (HAW) took to the water, pulled out some of the most impressive surfing this competition has seen so far, and walked away with a perfect 10!! Defending O’N...

The second event of the series is an important highlight on the calendar of the surf pros: the Cold Water Classic Scotland 2009 will take place from April 28th to May 06th 2009. The world's most northern surf contest will be held at the very North of the British Isles at 59 degrees north at Scotland's Thurso East. Already known in the previous year as the "Highland Classic", this event throws over any cliché about Scotland: instead of whiskey, kilts and bagpipes, it's all about wetsuits, surf...
