The third and final stage of the 2018 Snow Bike Festival saw riders take on a modified route. Due to the adverse weather conditions, the organisers took the decision to change the route to ensure it was rideable as well as enjoyable for all the riders. 17.3km and 365m of climbing stood between the riders and the finish line of this year’s event.

The Snow Bike Festival is honoured to announce that it has once again received Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) accreditation and has been upgraded to a “Stage Race Class 1”, making it one of only 13 stage races worldwide to be classified this highly. This results in an increased prize purse and additional UCI points. The event will return to the beautiful region of Gstaad in the Swiss Canton Berne. Here is the official Trailer.

On stage 2 the riders had once again to start on the promenade in Gstaad. The riders climbed a slope to reach Egli, from there on the athletes faced a challenging combination of downhill and uphill to Feutersoey and Gsteig followed by a little climb and then by a tricky downhill. The third and final stage on Sunday was again greeted with fantastic weather and provided for excellent riding conditions. The race started in the promenade in Gstaad. The highlight of the Snow Bike Festival Gstaad 2016 was the Eliminator Night Race, where small groups of riders chase each other on a specially prepared floodlight course: at the thrilling duels, one rider after the other will be eliminated until only the winner will remain.

Stage 2 of the Snow Bike Festival started yesterday morning with a bit of an overcast and with a more comfortable reading on the thermometer compared to stage 1. The terrain however was a bit more slippery at stage 2 compared to stafe 1 as some of the ice on the roads began to melt due to the warmer conditions. It was Thomas Misser who won the race in the men category and Hielke Elferink who won in the women category.
