Steep Lines and Plenty of Ice: Almost Live Presented by Gore-Tex Products Episode 6 Seson 6
For big mountain skiers, Alaska serves as a source of inspiration and the ultimate proving ground. Crews of athletes and filmers head to the Last Frontier each year in search of steep lines and deep snow. This past winter, however, rumors circulated that many of the state’s mountain ranges were plagued with a shit storm of ice. Upon exploring the area surrounding Juneau, Ian McIntosh, Sage Cattabriga-Alosa, Angel Collinson, and Dana Flahr found these rumors to be true.
Nonetheless, these subpar conditions served as a catalyst for exploration—and a test of everyone’s ability to adapt. Luckily, the crew was in good hands thanks to Alaska Powder Descents. The company’s guides led the the crew to a range of zones in the Taku Range. And this fresh terrain brought rewards—without ice.
