La Grave on a power day - a skier's full meal
Powder day in La Grave, France.
It had been snowing non-stop the day before, and with 60cm of fresh powder at 3200m, we decided to go skiing in La Grave the next day.
"That day was a skier's full meal"
- starter: 2100m of non-stop denivelation through les Vallons de La Meije
- main course: west sector through the Vallon Chancel, quickly followed by the Couloir des Fréaux, a "free elevator drop of 900 vertical m ; steep and narrow 40-45° ; ended by a 50 minutes walk to reach the village and the gondola
- dessert: once again, 2100m of non-stop denivelation, but through le Vallon Chancel and Chavalchère, where even at the end of the day, we were lucky enough to get and blow some fresh powder
