Best of Pole Vault at the International Golden Roof Challenge 2016
Under perfect conditions, the world’s elite in pole vault and long jump provided great sports action at the 12th International Golden Roof Challenge in Innsbruck (AUT).
The annual classic excited the audience with great performances and emotions on the “FlySwat”, the world’s largest mobile track and field facility (length 72.3 metres long and weight 25 tons). The athletes jumped right in the historic city center – directly in front of the “Golden Roof”, the landmark of the Olympic city of Innsbruck.
Winner of the Long jump Men category was world record holder at the Paralympics Markus Rehm (GER) who beat favored Rushwal Samaai (RSA) to second place. Samaai`s country fellow Lynique Prinsloo (RSA) performed the best attempt in the women’s competition.
Robert Renner (SLO), reigning U23 European Champion, took the win in the Pole Vault Men category. So did his female counterpart Ling Li (CHN) who showed – as favorite of this competition – the best performance of the female pole vaulters and won the women`s category.
