On an absolutely stunning day, 12 men and 6 women took to the largest halfpipe in the world, at Europe’s premier snowboard event — the LAAX OPEN. During the riders three runs the battles got crazy, making it difficult to predict who would win, but in the end it was Japan’s Ayumu Hirano, and USA’s Arielle Gold, who went away 2016 LAAX OPEN Halfpipe champs, $75.000 and $45,000 USD richer.

A bright sunny day welcomed the 55 international snowboarders competing in the 5Star Burn Slopestyle finals to the world renowned Swatch Mottolino Snowpark in Livigno, Italy.
The slopestyle course featured a Burn can for jibbing as a starter, followed by the choice of a Burn can to bonk or a 2 meter gap box leading in to the massive kicker line made out of a 20 meter kicker, a 19 meter gap jump and a 22 meter kicker at the end.

Another beautiful day here in LAAX for today’s Halfpipe Semi-Finals in the legendary LAAX Superpipe. 24 men and 12 women were battling for a spot in Saturday’s big finals. Olympic Gold Medalist Iouri Podladtchikov (SUI) won the Semi-Finals in his “home-pipe”, while Chloe Kim (USA) landed the best run in the women’s field.
All riders had two runs, with the best one counting. In the Men’s competition riders from Switzerland, the United States and China were clearly dominating the field today....

The LAAX OPEN 2017 ended with exciting Halfpipe finals today. The perfectly shaped LAAX Superpipe on Crap Sogn Gion was the center of attention, when 12 men and 6 women were trying to grab the Halfpipe crown. In breath-taking finals Chloe Kim (USA) and Chase Josey (USA) walked away as proud LAAX OPEN 2017 Halfpipe Champions.
