Pasta, pizza, mama mia, espresso - next stop Malcesine, Italy! The divers and the Italian way of life.
Last season’s competition in Italy saw Artem Silchenko on the top podium and Series’ dominator Gary Hunt crashed after he world premiered his running take off and still misses an Italian victory in his collection.
Maybe the new location at Lake Garda will fill this gap…

Gary Hunt repeats his Greece victory of 2009
It was Englishman Gary Hunt who left his personal mark on Greek soil by winning the third stop of the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series 2011 in Athens on Sunday afternoon. Lake Vouliagmeni was the venue where the 26-year-old took his first season victory and repeated his win in the 2009 final. With a whiff of the Olympic spirit omnipresent, Czech Michal Navratil made the extra step to the podium and finished third in front of more than 9,000 enth...

Gary Hunt and Rhiannan Iffland maintained their winning form on a dramatic and barely believable day of high-quality action at the fourth stop of the 2021 Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series in Downpatrick Head, Ireland. In the men’s competition, Hunt earned his 41st career victory, but that doesn’t even begin to tell the story. Having earned three 10s himself in Saturday’s second round, the Frenchman watched on as his rivals cranked up the pressure with a series of high-scoring dives in the t...

Hunt, without a win in 2021 coming into this stop, had spoken openly earlier in the week about the double threat posed this season by rivals Popovici and Catalin Preda. The two Romanians faltered in the rain on Friday however, and despite Popovici’s sensational final dive, for which he picked up two 10s, Hunt remained calm and composed at the end to claim a 40th World Series win, and his first as a Frenchman.

On a highly competitive afternoon in Norway’s capital city, it was Romania’s Constantin Popovici who narrowly pipped compatriot Catalin Preda to victory in what turned out to be more of a ‘Romanian rumble’ than an exhibition at the Oslo Opera House. The athletes displayed an array of extraordinary high dives to amaze the enthusiastic spectators who came to witness the first ever sports event from this landmark building. Hunt had arrived in the Basque Country with a steely determination to reassert his dominance, following a humbling defeat to the sport’s new star, Constantin Popovici of Romania, at Stari Most. And the Brit’s smile was as wide as the Nervión as he emerged from the water to see he had edged ahead of Mexico’s Jonathan Paredes for the win. Fellow Brit, 17-year-old Aidan Heslop, defied his tender age to grab third and a place on the podium in just his second start as the youngest diver ever.
