Once again it was the setting for a perfect day of competition - clear blue skies, and whales out in the bay - on day two of the O’Neill Cold Water Classic, Santa Cruz.
A high tide meant that despite at 7am start for the call, Steamer Lane wasn’t working its magic until after lunch when local surfer Jonny Craft got into the water and took out the first heat of the day.
With current Series leader Brent Dorrington out of the event Adam Melling is now eyeing up the $50,000 prize money on off...

The O’Neill Cold Water Classic New Zealand 2011 was ruled by the top seeds on the fourth day. The competition remained at ‘The Pipe’ on Midway Beach for the second consecutive day. The event’s top seed, Adam Melling (AUS), was the first surfer to move through to Round of 12 and he eliminated the last standing Kiwi, Maz Quinn along the way. The Women’s event saw a different show with Kelly Clark dominating throughout – and the crowd gathered at the bottom of the Jakobshorn loving every move.
The 27 year old American continues to push women’s riding, her second run consisting of a Frontside 900, Backside 540 Mute, Frontside 720, Indy and Cab 720 Mute. Behind her was the 19 year old Slovenian rider Cilka Sadar in second and the Norwegian rider Kjersti Ostgaard Buaas in third.

The final 16 surfers at the O'Neill Cold Water Classic Canada were decided today. There were perfect conditions with sunshine, offshore winds and pulsing swell.

The 16th annual freestyle.ch Zurich was a hit despite the weather. 28,000 freestyle fans gathered at the Landiwiese to cheer on their freestyle superstars.
This year’s freestyle.champs are Gjermund Bråten (NOR) in snowboarding, Henrik Harlaut (SWE) in freeskiing, Dany Torres (ESP) in FMX and Sandro Dias (BRA) in skateboarding.
