Luke Mitrani (Stratton Mountain, VT) put down a huge first run to win. "This is crazy because I didn't even snowboard this summer. I just skateboarded a lot and took my mind off snowboarding, so to jump back into it is crazy to win a contest. I'm shocked. My strategy was to just focus on my riding and feed off of other people. When someone does something big it makes me want to ride even harder for myself."

The first 5Star halfpipe competition of the 2011/12 TTR World Tour season is in the bag and Japanese rider, Ryo Aono, and American, Kelly Clark, took home the victories at the 2011 Burton New Zealand Open. The main attraction that brought Simon Dumont and the members of the US Snowboard to The Otsego Club is their 22 foot superpipe in the O Park. The US Snowboard team, Louie Vito, JJ Thomas, Matt Ladley, Kelly Marren, Kaitlyn Farrington, Steve Fisher, and more came to a cool ski resort and snowboard park in Gaylord, Michigan to train before hitting up the 2011 Killington Vermont DEWTOUR and the X GAMES. The Otsego Club and Resort hosted the team, along with Simon Dumont, and had them practicing into the ACROBAG as well as hitting the 22 Foot halfpipe in preparation for next weekends events. The men dropped into the pipe in the afternoon and perfect weather conditions continued for the men’s field.  Iouri Padladchikov (SUI) had a little trouble on his first run but came back to take the top spot with his second drop putting down a huge crippler, double McTwist 1260, frontside 1080 tailgrab, and a Cab 720.  With today’s result, Podladtchikov moved into World No. 1 in the Swatch TTR Rankings sitting behind current leader, Gjermund Braaten (NOR)   Japanese riders were out in full fo...
