Nike 6.0 Stairset Battle Tour Stop #2 NED
nowWorld, Landgraaf, NL
There may be no tall mountains in the Netherlands, but plenty of snowboard talent! About 45 of the best Dutch jib riders brought their skills to the second official stop of the Nike 6.0 Stairset Battle Tour 2010/11 on December 11th 2010.
In front of 250 spectators, this TTR 2-Star event went down at SnowWorld indoor snow park in Landgraaf, Netherlands, one of two SnowWorld parks in the country.
With lots of indoor experience, the Dutch jib kids annihilated the set with tons of crazy tricks right from the start. A noticeable amount of young riders entered the jam session – with the youngest shredder, Jordy Keesmeekers at a mere 7 years of age – and also several female riders. Two girls, Rachida Aoulad-El-Haj-Amar and Isabella Groenestein could hold their own against the boys and made it to the final 10.
Here’s some of what went down in the final jam:
Didier Kicken came close to the Top 3 with a bs 450 onto the rail. Always willing to risk for a mad slam Cees Wille gapped onto the flat part of the kinked ledge into a boardslide for third place. Kas Lemmens pulled out a super clean cab 180 to Tailpress BS 360 out into a well-deserved second place.
With one of the hardest tricks of the day – a hardway BS 360 on – Wessel van Lierop took first place, securing himself a Ticket to the Grand Final of the tour at Nike 6.0 Air&Style 2011 in Munich, Germany on February 12th, 2011!
As the second indoor spot of the tour, SnowWorld has set the bar really high, as far as the level of tricks goes. The stairset will remain in the park all winter, and speaker Gerben Verweij could not stop himself from shredding the marble ledges during the qualification. If this was a taste of things to come, we’re looking forward to what’s next on the Stairset Battle Tour!
