On Sunday, March 10, 2024, more than 11.000 from 67 nations competed in the 54th edition of the Engadin Skimarathon, the second largest cross-country skiing event in the world and the largest cross-country skiing event in Switzerland. Shortly after 8 am the starting pistol got fired at Silvaplana (Upper Engadin) to start the race leading the athletes through the beautiful scenery of Switzerland.On the 40 km long marathon route, the runners race over the snowy track, past typical Engadin villages and through a unique winter landscape from the start to the finish in S-chanf.

It is a challenging race of the men’s leading group over the full distance. Delivering an intense final stage of the race, Magne Haga (NOR) wins in a time of 1:44.42,2 ahead of Thomas Bucher-Johannessen (NOR) on the second place and Filip Fjeld Andersen (NOR) on third. So, the podium is in Norwegian hands followed by three athletes from Switzerland: 4. Dario Cologna (SUI), 5. Fabrizio Albasini (SUI), 6. Nicola Wigger (SUI).

In the women’s elite race category Maëlle Veyre (FRA) finishes with the best finishing time followed by local hero Guliana Werro (SUI) and Federica Sanfilippo from Italy.
