Day Two of the GWA Tarifa Wing Pro saw the near-completion of Men’s Round 3 for the Surf-Freestyle discipline. Several attempts were made to start to the Race discipline today, but due to several changes in the race-course, the final call was made to switch to the Surf-Freestyle discipline to try and advance further up the competition ladder. Day Three of the Tarifa Wing Pro was all about the tow-in action, as we ran an expression session in the waves whilst the athletes and crew waited for the wind to arrive. A total of 18 athletes signed up to participate in the tow-in competition, and we saw some amazing surfing from riders such as young gun Malo Guenole, Titouan Galea from New Caledonia, Kane de Wilde from USA and Italian Riccardo Zorzi. The mens final was a showdown between two of the youngest riders on tour. Our current World Champion Malo Guenole vs Chris Mac Donald. On day four of the GWA Wingfoil World Cup in New Zealand, the wind finally kicked in, allowing us to advance halfway through Men’s Round One with approximately 14 knots of wind. Rejoining the contest at the round three stage, every heat on day two was a battle to stay in the competition. Once again we had solid wind and waves that made for heats of high energy and entertainment. The World Championship titles left to be decided will reach their climax at this event, running in Taiba, 12 – 16th November. 33 men and 12 women signed-up for Surf-Freestyle, while Surf-Slalom saw an increase of 41 Men and 14 women who will battle it out around the courses later in the week.
