Starting at 5am from Kals am Grossglockner, we had to run 75K with 4 000m of elevation before reaching the finish line in Kaprun. More than a race, it was an adventure, with some very technical trails surrounded by the highest mountains of Austria and breathtaking landscapes.
It took me 14h24 to finish it, luckily the weather conditions were just perfect, it was simply one of the best days of my life in the mountains since I started to be passionate about it 10 years ago.

Canada's Gary Robbins was unable to finish the third lap of the Barkley Marathons under the cut-off time for completing the entire 100 miles. It was the third attempt in as many years for the North Vancouver-based ultrarunner. Only 15 different people have ever even finished the race.
In 2017, Robbins made it onto the fifth and final lap, but was not able find his way in the darkness and DNFed.

122 runners took the start to face the test of the BUFF EPIC TRAIL, the Ultra Marathon 105k, a race that undoubtedly claimed its epic status.
In the refuge of Saboredo (51.8km) when Yeray Durán and Pau Bartoló were leading the race with variations in the first position, a severe thunderstorm endangered the viability of the race. Because of the constant instability of the weather conditions, the organization decided to stop the race in Espot (67.5km) and inform the riders who were arriving a...

Japan’s connection with the natural world has shaped its people’s lives and culture for thousands of years. In ancient times they looked on their mountains as the dwelling places of the gods. This still continues through the Japanese practice of Shugendo which is centred around the examination of our relationship with the natural world. Rickey Gates and Anna Frost travel to the Japanese Alps to explore this shared bond with the mountains.

Our love of nature is a common language. Far away from the realities of the chaotic world the wilderness offers us a playground with its own rhythm and order of existence. In search of a bit of natural enlightenment, Rickey Gates and Dakota Jones pack their running shoes (and rafts) and head into the canyons of Nowhere, Utah.

Meet ultra runner Cody Callon. If you ran in to him in the backcountry you might mistake him as an animal that belongs in the wild. Cody talks about a state of mind that is only achieved when running long distances on the trail. Perhaps this is the same state of mind that hunters would rely on when endurance hunting for survival thousands of years ago. The flow of movement and mind-body connection experienced in ultra running can’t be replicated by any other sport. Even track and urban runnin...

Less than half the number of people who start go onto to finish the Bob Graham Round in the allotted time. One of the most exhilarating aspects of trail running is letting go and charging down a trail. It may sound crazy but running down is often harder and more challenging than running up. As with most things in life, practice makes perfect. British Fell Runners, Ricky Lightfoot and Tom Owens head to Iceland in search of the perfect downhill.
