First of all Doris (the van) wouldn't start due to the extreme cold on the day we left, so it was not a good start to the journey. finally after some perseverance and elbow grease Sam managed to get Doris going! It was all smooth sailing (despite the horrendous screeching coming from the gear box every time we had to slow down) until we got to Sion and Doris started to smoke! Luckily Sam & I were blissfully ignorant to what the problem might be so we continued on to Verbier.

The 4* Freeride World Qualifier Event, Big Mountain Hochfügen took place during blue bird sky.
Ski & Snowboard Freerider from all over the world gathered at the beautiful Zillertal in Austria to fight for the coveted points at the Freeride World Qualifier Tour.

In August 2016, The North Face Freeski Open will return to New Zealand as The North Face Frontier, a Freeride World Tour sanctioned event, open to both skiers and snowboarders.

This is my season edit from Europe winter 2016.
I was competing on the Freeride World Qualifier series all winter and I did heaps of travelling.
I did a bunch of comps over the 3 months I was there. It was a damn good time and I qualified for the FWT!
I saw more of Europe than ever before and met people from everywhere with snow, and some from places with none. The cultural learning was out of hand! I couldn't tell you how many times I had yarns about language and history...
